The Victorian Fountain to provide horses with drinking water was erected to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. It stood proudly on The Quay until the 1970s when it was demolished for road improvements and the upper part destroyed. The base however remains and is re-erected in Quay House garden.  It stands under a tree between the bandstand and the public library and faces the ivy-covered façade of Quay House.
