On the evening of Monday 10 July 2005 a large group of local history societies and other organisations met together at Charleton Village Hall to display their work, talk and compare notes. The event was meticulously organised by Ann Lidstone, Hon Secretary of Kingsbridge History Society, down to the last brilliant detail, which made for a sure success. History groups taking part came from Kingston, Dartmouth, Ringmore, Modbury, Dartington, Loddiswell, Aveton Gifford, South Pool, Stokenham with Torcross, Wembury, Hope Cove and Kingsbridge, with a fledgling South Milton there to observe. Other organisations were the Devon Family History Society, the Cookworthy Museum, Salcombe Maritime Museum, and Alan Brunton’s Orchard Publications.
Judging from the high decibel count during the evening everyone greatly enjoyed the event, which included a groaning board of varied sandwiches with hot and cold drinks.
Entries in the Kingsbridge Society’s visitors’ book were unanimously enthusiastic and all asked for more such gatherings to be mounted in the future, perhaps with the societies taking turns.

"I've found it!" The Devon Family History Society's database proved very popular
And finally an opportunity to sign the attendance book and say what you thought about the evening (all the comments were most enthusiastic and asked when the next such event would be held)
